About This Project

This Eden Prairie property near Prairie View Elementary features a generous front yard with five mature red oaks and two ornamental Japanese maples. The homeowner had been struggling with grass growing up to the tree trunks, making mowing difficult and creating an inconsistent look. They wanted decorative tree rings that would define clean mulch zones around each tree while complementing the upscale neighborhood aesthetic.

We custom-measured each tree ring to provide adequate space for the root flare and a generous mulch bed, ranging from 4 feet in diameter for the smaller maples to 8 feet for the largest oaks. The curbing was extruded with a traditional slant-face profile and finished in a warm tan integral color. Each ring was formed as a continuous circle with no visible seams, giving a seamless, professional appearance.

After the curbing cured, the homeowner filled each ring with premium dark hardwood mulch, creating a striking contrast against the tan concrete and green lawn. The tree rings not only solved the mowing problem but also gave the front yard a unified, landscaped look. The homeowner described the improvement as “like getting a brand-new yard without changing anything else.”
